CHANDIGARH: Father of Lovekesh Kumar Vasudeva, who has been charged with the double murder of Pooja (his wife) and Neeraj Narula (his mother-in-law) in Clovis, USA, claims that he would hand his son over to the police whenever he gets in touch with him.
‘‘I am clueless about his whereabouts. I know I am liable to be booked for harbouring a criminal but ever since he returned from the USA, we have not heard from him.

I don''t even know if he is dead or alive,'''' said 67-yearold Hari Dev Vasudeva, Lovekesh''s father, who lives in Nanowal Jattan village in Hoshiarpur.
A former head constable, who is sarpanch of his village, he admitted, ‘‘My cousin Ravinder Pal lives in Shimla but contrary to everyone''s belief Bobby (Lovekesh) is not there. My wife has lost her mental balance because of what is happening. The last call he made to us was nearly one-and-a-half-years ago.
Father of Pooja and husband of Narula is, however, taking Hari Dev''s statement with a pinch of salt.
‘‘Police should take action against Hari Dev because he is sheltering a wanted criminal. My daughter had told me a few months before the murder that her father-in-law had not helped her and had pushed her into a room when Bobby had assaulted her physically.
‘‘I have proof that money has been transferred into his bank account and that he has misused his position of village sarpanch in influencing the Punjab Police. They have still not traced Lovkesh because they lack the will to do so, said the anguished father.

He was in tears when he added, ‘‘Hari Dev, who is supporting a murderer, has the nerve to allege that I killed my daughter and wife for their insurance money. He does not even know that they were not insured. I know for a fact that his son, who is being supported by Hari Dev and his family, is in Shimla. Police told the Human Rights Commission that he was spotted there.
In a voice choked with emotion, he asked, ‘‘Do they take prompt action only when a foreign national like Hannah Foster is murdered?
